UFC 108: Evans vs.
Silva – Las Vegas, Nev. – MGM Grand Garden Arena – Jan. 2, 2010
Rashad “Suga” Evans took advantage of his opponent’s
showboating to finish the first UFC pay-per-view of a new decade.
Evans battled Thiago Silva in the main event of UFC 108 and controlled
most of the action. Silva made a comeback in the third round, but then he started
playing to the crowd.
This allowed Evans to regain control and win a unanimous
decision.
In the co-main event, Paul Daley picked up his second
knockout win in the Octagon, stopping Dustin Hazelett in 2:24.
In lightweight action, Sam Stout beat Joe Lauzon by
unanimous decision; and Jim Miller used an armbar to force Duane “Bang” Ludwig
to tap out at the 2:31 mark.
Junior dos Santos improved to 4-0 in the UFC heavyweight
division with a TKO win over Gilbert Yvel in 2 minutes, 7 seconds.
On the Spike TV pre-show, Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann beat
Jacob Volkmann with a guillotine choke at the 4:03 mark.
Cole Miller combined a kimura and a reverse triangle to
force Dan Lauzon to submit at 3:05.
In the early preliminary fights, Mark Munoz forced Ryan
Jensen to submit to a flurry of strikes.
Jake Ellenberger picked up his first win in the Octagon by TKO
over Mike Pyle; and Rafaello Oliviera beat the debuting John Gunderson by unanimous
