UFC 113: Machida vs.
Shogun 2 – Montreal, Quebec – Bell Centre – May 8, 2010
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua knocked out Lyoto Machida to win the
UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 113.
Rua rained down punches from the mount to earn a knockout
win, avenging his loss to Machida at UFC 104.
Josh Koscheck beat Paul Daley by unanimous decision to earn
a welterweight title shot against Georges St. Pierre. Koscheck also earned the
right to coach the 12th season of The Ultimate Fighter against GSP.
Daley sucker punched Koscheck after the bout and was subsequently
fired.
Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens won a split decision over Sam
Stout in the lightweight division.
Matt Mitrione beat Kimbo Slice by TKO in Round 2. UFC boss Dana White also
cut Kimbo from the roster, ending his UFC career with an Octagon record of 1-1.
Alan “The Talent” Belcher opened the pay-per-view with a submission
win over Patrick Cote via rear naked choke in Round 2.
On the pre-show, Joe Doerksen defeated “Filthy” Tom Lawlor with
a rear naked choke in the second round. Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran won a unanimous decision
over Tim Hague.
John Salter beat Jason MacDonald by TKO at the 2:42 mark
when “The Athlete” suffered an ankle injury.
The rest of the pre-show bouts took place in the
welterweight division. “The Irish Hand
Grenade” Marcus Davis beat Jonathan
Goulet by TKO in the second round.
Mike “Joker” Guymon won a unanimous decision over Yoshiyuki
Yoshida. Johny Hendricks remained undefeated with a majority decision over TJ
Grant.
