UFC 116: Shane Carwin Steps Up To Face Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar continued his heavyweight dominance by beating Shane Carwin at UFC 116.

While Lesnar had been sidelined with diverticulitis, Carwin had won the interim heavyweight title by defeating Frank Mir at UFC 111.

Lesnar returned to the Octagon and retained his heavyweight title by forcing Carwin to submit to an arm triangle choke in the second round.

Chris “Lights Out “ Lytle used a triangle/armbar combination to beat Matt Brown by submission in the second round.

Stephan Bonnar beat "The Polish Experiment" Krzystof Soszynski by TKO in the second round, avenging a loss from earlier in the year.

Chris “The Crippler” Leben scored his second win in two weeks, beating Yoshihiro Akiyama with a triangle choke with 20 seconds left in the fight.

George Sotiropoulos opened the pay-per-view by winning a unanimous decision over Kurt Pellegrino.

On the Spike TV pre-show, Brendan Schaub beat Chris Tuchscherer by TKO in 67 seconds. Ricardo Romero forced Seth Petruzelli to tap out to an armbar in the second round.

In the early prelims, TUF 3 winner Kendall Grove won a split decision over Goran Reljic. John Madsen beat Karlos Vemola by unanimous decision.

Gerald "Hurricane" Harris knocked out David Branch with a slam in Round 3. Daniel Roberts won a split decision over Forrest “Meat Cleaver” Petz.
