“The Young Assassin” Melvin Guillard defeated Evan Dunham in the main event of UFC’s second “Fight for the Troops” event.
Guillard rocked Dunham with a left knee strike and then kept battling until the referee stopped the fight just under the three-minute mark.
Mark Hominick earned shot at the new UFC featherweight championship with a TKO win over George Roop in 88 seconds. Jose Aldo was crowned the first UFC featherweight champion, as he entered the company with the WEC featherweight title.
In heavyweight action, Matt Mitrone improved to 4-0, beating Tim Hague by TKO at the 2:59 mark.
Pat “HD” Berry beat “The Mexicutioner” Joey Beltran by unanimous decision in another heavyweight bout.
Matt Wiman opened the Spike TV broadcast with a unanimous decision over Cole Miller.
Facebook aired UFC preliminary bouts for the first time. “The Master of Thug-Jitsu” Yves Edwards used a rear naked choke to score a technical submission over Cody McKenzie in Round 2.
Mike Brown returned to the Octagon after only three weeks, but he lost a unanimous decision to Rani Yahya. DaMarques Johnson defeated Mike Guymon by submission to a body triangle at the 3:22 mark.
Waylon Lowe won a unanimous decision over Williamy Friere, as all three judges scored the bout 29-28.
In the early prelims, Chris Cariaso beat Will Campuzano by unanimous decision; and Charlie Brenneman won in the same way over Amilcar Alves.
