UFC 129: St.Pierre

UFC shattered its North American attendance record, drawing
55,000 fans paying $12 million to see the UFC for the first time in Ontario.
Georges St. Pierre won the UFC 129 main event, retaining his
welterweight title with a unanimous decision over Jake Shields.
GSP made his sixth consecutive title defense. He won 48-47
on two judges’ scorecards and 50-45 on the other.
Speaking of dominant champions, Jose Aldo retained his UFC
featherweight title with a unanimous decision over Ontario native Mark
Hominick.
Randy Couture wrapped up his fighting career with a record
of 19-11. Lyoto Machida knocked out Couture with a crane kick.
Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko knocked out Jason Brilz in
20 seconds. WEC star Benson Henderson debuted in the Octagon with a unanimous
decision over Mark Bocek.
On the Spike TV pre-show, Canada’s Rory McDonald beat Nate
Diaz by unanimous decision. Jake Ellenberger knocked out Sean Pierson at the
2:42 mark.
In the Facebook preliminary fights, Ivan Menjivar returned
to the Octagon after a seven-year absence and beat Charlie Valencia by TKO in
90 seconds.
Pablo “The Scarecrow” Garza forced Yves Jabouin to submit to
a triangle choke in 4:31. Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald also used a triangle to
beat Ryan Jensen.
Claude Patrick thrilled his hometown fans with a unanimous
decision over Daniel Roberts. John “The Bull”
Makdessi knocked out Kyle Watson in the third round with a spinning back fist.
